2016 YMCA Souper Bowl Success

YMCA Brings Football Players Together For Competition & Community Service

[SHREVEPORT, LA – NOVEMBER 9, 2016] – On Saturday, November 5th, 49 teams with
close to 900 participants came together for a day of football games and community service at
Lee Hedges Stadium. Admission for the day was just $1.00 with two donated canned goods.
Collected canned goods were donated to a local food pantry, Mary’s Place at the River Valley
Church.
The Souper Bowl has been a Y tradition for over 20 years. Football players, cheerleaders,
parents and fans showed up with enthusiasm and team spirit to celebrate the finale of the 2016
YMCA Youth Football season. Each year the YMCA of Northwest Louisiana looks forward to this
event as an opportunity to highlight the Y’s three focus areas of Youth Development, Healthy
Living and Social Responsibility. We believe that when we can bring people together in a way
that encourages these focus areas, our community grows stronger and everyone wins.
Everything the Y does is in the spirit of building a better us in Northwest Louisiana.
